The first week of camp was spent rehearsing for the 160BDE Beating Retreat in Brecon on 22 June, and future concerts under the leadership of their new Bandmaster, WO1 Baldwin. The band were fortunate to use the excellent facilities of the RAF Central Band at the Headquarters in Uxbridge for what was a very successful week in which the band achieved a high musical standard with a high degree of enjoyment.
Photos from the rehearsals at RAF Uxbridge and Brecon are shown below.
Whilst rehearsing in Brecon, the Band was watched by a group of children from Cilffriw Primary School in Neath, who were on a visit to the South Wales Borderers Museum in the Barracks to study World War II. The Bandmaster invited the children, and their teacher Mrs Jones, to march along with the Band.
