A Gala of Massed Male Choirs, 8th May 2010

sads.jpg SADS UK PRESS RELEASE

The cardiac charity SADS UK are delighted that the Regimental Band of the Royal Welsh and Corps of Drums are giving freely of their time and supporting the charity by performing at their second Gala of Massed Male Choirs on May 8th 2010 at St DavidÕs Hall, Cardiff. Proceeds raised from the evening are to support the charity with their work with the Institute of Medical Genetics in Cardiff to assist families in Wales living with inherited cardiac conditions.

Last year the audience were treated to the Regimental Band of the Royal Welsh and the Corps of Drums performing under the expertise of their Director of Music, Major Denis Burton. After Henry Mancinis Swing March led by Major Andy Jones, the lights were dimmed for the spectacular drums ÔVictory BeatingsÕ where the audience were wowed as the ultra-violet light picked out just the drumsticks and they appeared to dance in time to the music. Their timing was impeccable.

By popular demand they will be performing again this year; their performance promises to be just as entertaining and exciting, as the repertoire being performed will be every bit as powerful.

The Gala also includes the beautiful soprano Elin Manahan Thomas who will give solo performances and join in duets with the effervescent soprano Angharad Morgan.

All the above, together with the harmonious massed male choir made up from 12 male voice choirs and under the direction of City of Newport Musical Director Frank Jones from Bedwas, will bring about an evening to remember.

Dignitaries coming along to enjoy the evening include the Right Worshipful City of Newport Mayor & Mayoress, Councillor Glyn & Mrs Glenys Jarvis, The Deputy Mayor Councillor Val Delahaye the High Sherrif of South Glamorgan, Mrs Anne Campbell, Wayne David MP and Jeff Cuthbert AM. Labour leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council Harry Andrews and councillors. Mrs Su Morris and Mr Layton Watkins from the Welsh Association of Male Voice Choirs will also be in attendance.

Tickets are available from St David's Hall Box Office on 02920 878444 or online at www.stdavidshallcardiff.co.uk
